Although the original temple of Devi Kamakshi is located in Kanchipuram, the revered Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth, Pujya Jayendra Saraswati Ji, considering the promotion of Vedic culture and literature, established this temple right in front of JNU on October 16, 1986. Before the construction of the temple, all the rules of Agama (scriptures) were strictly followed.
